As the stripers have started to move out to the islands, so have I. Liam Ireland recently invited me out to Chebeaugue Island for a couple of days and we were quickly pulling in fish.
On the island, we were primarily using chunk mackerel right off the rocky ledges of the back side. The action was fast and furious as David Jordan and I doubled up on our first casts.
Around Portland, the stripers have begun to move out of the rivers and out to the cooler waters of the islands. Bigger fish have started to show up and are keying on bait. White bucktails with paddle tails continue to produce and this is shaping up to be a great fishing season.
